The combined ministry efforts of Valley Baptist, First Baptist, and West Race Baptist churches are very excited to offer the community of Searcy another year of Upward! Upward is a sports ministry based on God's word. We will be offering basketball and cheerleading for children K-5 thru the 6th grade.
Upward promotes character and fun for every child by:
- Providing an evaluation system that promotes equal and competitive teams
- Establishing a one-hour practice and game each week
- implementing a substitution system for each team, allowing every child equal playing time
- creating the opportunity for every child to learn and improve their skills in the sport
Participating in Upward will give your child a chance to experience good sportsmanship on and off the court. Your child will also receive a special recognition award after every game and will have the opportunity to develop new friendships.
Along with the unique sports experience, your child will receive the following Upward items and much more:

Registration Information:
- The early registration cost per child for Basketball is $50.00 after October 22, the cost is $60.00. Basketball shorts are optional at a cost of $15.00
- The early registration cost per child for Cheerleading is $55.00; after October 22, the cost is $65.00. Cheerleading mock turtlenecks are optional at a cost of $15.00

Important Dates to Remember:
- Evaluations & Cheerleading sizing dates: October 19, 20, 22 (Valley Baptist Church 5:30pm-8:00pm)
- Registration deadline is October 30th
- Practice begins Monday, November 30th (Monday not Tuesday - missprint in brochere)
- First Game is Saturday, January 9th, 2010
- Awards Celebration is Tuesday, March 2, 2010 (First Baptist Church, Searcy)
There will be no Upward Practice during the Christmas Holiday. Practice will resume the week of January 4, 2010. If for some reason school is dismissed due to bad weather, Upward practice will also be canceled. Listen for notification on local radio too.
