Children

Children are very important to God and Valley Baptist Church. We want to partner with parents to lay the foundations of faith for families. Every child needs to hear God’s word and know that God loves them no matter how young or old they are. We strive to teach children how to worship because that is what we were created for. We also want them to experience the fellowship of a church family who loves our Lord and Savior and each other. We want the children at Valley Baptist Church to grow in their knowledge and understanding of who God is and who He wants to be in our lives. We want to teach our children how to serve each other as Jesus did. We want our children to be able to share God’s love through their words and actions. We are excited about what God is doing in and through our children at Valley.

Sunday School

Sunday School hour at Valley Baptist Church is more than just a Bible study time. It is a time for children to develop close friendships and bonds with other Christians. It’s the time where children learn about the Bible, that it is true, and that all the answers to any questions we may have can be found in it. It is a time to teach children how to pray, when to pray, and where to pray. It is also a time to teach that when you pray, you must believe God is listening and will answer in His time. It teaches children to trust upon the Lord and know that He is there all the time. It is a time to teach children how to love and respect each other. Most importantly, it teaches children that it is important to love and serve others because God first loved us.

Children’s Choir

Children’s Choir at Valley Baptist Church is a program for children age Kindergarten through 6th grade. We have a staff of volunteers who love to sing and worship our Lord and share His gift of music by their enthusiasm. Our children’s choirs are involved in two musicals each year. They also share specials throughout the year during our worship services. They meet each Sunday at 5:00 during the school year.

Mother’s Day Out

The Mother’s Day Out program is a ministry designed to help the family with childcare for pre-school children. We meet two days per week on Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:00am – 2:00pm. This program was created to give stay-at-home moms some time to run errands, make doctor appointments, get their hair done, or spend some quality time with friends. We know how busy mothers are, and we know that they seldom have time to take care of their own needs. MDO gives them the opportunity to do just that without the guilt. We provide a loving atmosphere and teach the children how to share, play, and cope away from mom. We teach kindergarten readiness to the 4-year-olds, which includes a Bible Lesson, numbers, letters, shapes, and colors. We have activities to teach them how to use scissors. The younger child will have a Bible story, play time, nap time, music time and color time. We strive to love each child unconditionally just as Jesus does and show them how to love and respect each other.

AWANA

AWANA is a program for children ages 3 through 6th grade. This program focuses on the memorization of Bible verses. It is a complete program that helps to develop the character of each student who passes through the program. The children learn to work together to complete a task during their game time. During their Counsel time, they learn how to praise and worship our Lord while learning great life lessons that are relevant in today’s society. Then they have a handbook time where they memorize Bible verses. AWANA stands for “Approved workman are not ashamed”, and is found in II Timothy 2:15.

Planet 56

Valley has a group called “Planet 56” which is for our 5th and 6th graders. They are older than children but not teenagers yet. So, we have created a space just for them! They have activities throughout the year for just 5th and 6th graders that are promoted through Sunday School. In Sunday School, they study from the literature “Everything You Need to Know To Be a Teenager” thus equipping them for the next phase of their life. We have a “ Pre-teen Disciple Now” weekend for this age group that helps them to bond and learn more about Jesus.

Children’s Activities

We have many children’s activities planned throughout the year by a Children’s Committee. We plan activities such as Easter Egg Hunt, Back – to – School parties, Hallelujah Parties, skating parties, and Pizza parties. During the summer, we also have “Wacky Wednesdays” in June, Vacation Bible School, and Children’s Camp in July, and “Back –to-School in August. These activities are for all children through 6th grade. We also have “Valley Kids” on Wednesday evenings during the summer for ages 3-6th grade which consists of a Bible lesson and game time.

Special Needs

We have a class for the special needs individual. We have loving workers who will take care of your special needs individual during all worship services, during the Sunday School hour, and on Wednesdays. Pagers are available when you sign in so they may contact you if a need arises. This is a very important ministry and the people involved in this ministry have a heart for service. This ministry includes all people who have a special need.

Preschool (Nursery)

At Valley, we minister from the youngest to the oldest individual. We have three nurseries for babies, one year olds, and 2 & 3 year olds. The nurseries are available during all worship services, Sunday School, and Wednesday services. Each nursery has a staff worker and a volunteer to care for the children so that there is continuity each week. They create a loving atmosphere for the children and they love coming back each week. We have a pager system so that you may be contacted if your child needs you during the service.
